In the two days leading up to FSU closure in response to Hurricane Idalia, more than 500 students visited the Student Food Pantry. Sadly, the pantry was forced to close early due to running out of supplies. The Division of Student Affairs fully anticipates an increased need for student emergency funds. During the last hurricane to impact our students, more than $100,000 of immediate aid was provided to students facing significant financial strain due to loss of income, transportation, financial support or caregiver support.

The Student Emergency Fund will be used to support students facing financial crises and address needs from food insecurity and emergency travel to housing assistance. Additionally, we continue operating our Food for Thought Pantry to support our students. Donors may also directly support the FSU student food pantry by purchasing items listed on its Amazon Wish List.

The student emergency funds have been created to be put to work immediately for our students. Support will be granted to students who complete an application process and distributed as both need and financial support is identified. Simply put, the more funds raised, the more students we are able to help at a faster speed!

Gifts can be made online using a credit card, debit card or PayPal at https://give.fsu.edu/idaliaemergencyfund.

Gifts not made online may be received via check made payable to the FSU Foundation and reference Fund F08909 (Tallahassee campus student emergency fund). Donors may also directly support the FSU student food pantry by purchasing items on its Amazon Wish List.

Outreach is being sent directly to students from impacted areas from the Division of Student Affair’s Department of Student Support and Transitions with available resources, including information on the emergency relief fund.
